Dwight Yoakam decides to drop out of The Lone Ranger

Well, this is sort of disappointing.

Dwight Yoakam has said “happy trails” to THE LONE RANGER. Yoakam was originally cast in the Gore Verbinski directed film as a villain. Now they will have to find someone else to play the part of Butch Cavendish, the leader of the gang that attacks the Lone Ranger and leaves him for dead.

Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Helena Bonham Carter, and Barry Pepper are still all on board as far as we know. Everything is still on track even though the fall production date was scrapped and moved to mid-February. Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer were also asked to bring the budget down from $250 million to $215 million.

The apparent reason for Yoakam’s departure is due to a scheduling issue.

Even though the movie is said to still be coming our way, I just feel like it’s going to get pushed back. It really feels like a massive pipe dream that will inevitably get clogged. I’m interested in seeing a finish product since I used to watch the show when I was younger. But does anyone else want to see it on the big screen?
