EA Hell wars

Halloween is bringing a treat for Electronic Arts (EA) this year, as according to Variety, there’s a bidding war between four major studies for the movie rights for one of their video games that hasn’t even come out yet!!!

Talk about hardcore! I’d say there were five studios, but Warner Bros. dropped out earlier this week, leaving Universal, Paramount, New Regency, and MGM left to duking it out. But what kind of game could have these studios going nuts over? How about one that will send you straight to Hell!

The game doesn’t even have an official title yet, but most are calling it DANTE’S INFERNO, and it goes a little something like this: [the game] involves a journey through the depths of hell… a modern interpretation of the epic poem (Dante’s Inferno).

I don’t know what’s more badass, that a video game is exploring the depths of hell, or that there is a bidding war as to which studio will bring it to the big screen. I knew horror was hot right now, but this… this is just crazy!

You might be wondering why the studio want the rights to a game that’s based on a poem, and not just get the rights to the poem… and you know, that’s a good question. Why indeed… Those kooky movie studios, maybe one jumped on the idea and the others followed without really thinking it through… who knows?

Stick around as we wait to find out if it’s a happy Halloween for EA–which studio will be the victor?
