Eaten by DVD

Every horror fan knows that Tobe Hooper directed the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. What happened after TCM, you say? Well, aside from PART 2, Hooper also directed a little film called EATEN ALIVE which starred Marilyn Burns from Hooper’s previous effort. EATEN ALIVE never really got a suitable R1 release, so leave it to Dark Sky Films (the same dudes who are doing the Ultimate Edition DVD for TCM) to come out with their own Special Edition DVD due out September 26th!

EATEN ALIVE tells the story of Judd, who runs the Starlight Hotel out in the swamps of Louisiana, and just so happens to be one of those war veterans that’s a little more psychotic than most. He has a crocodile conveniently placed on the other side of the front porch railing. The croc will eat just about anything, as the hapless guests of the hotel find out when they cross Judd.

Also known as DEATH TRAP, HORROR HOTEL, LEGEND OF THE BAYOU and STARLIGHT SLAUGHTER, the film also starred the future Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund as Buck, who is here to, well, watch KILL BILL to find out. The DVD will sport a widescreen transfer, and for extras includes a feature-length audio commentary with producer/co-writer Mardi Rustam, actors Roberta Collins, William Finley and Kyle Richards, and make-up artist Craig Reardon, a “My Name is Buck” Robert Englund featurette, The The Butcher of Elmendorf: The Legend of Joe Ball, trailers for EATEN ALIVE, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE DEVIL’S RAIN and a still gallery.
