Eggos and huge monsters in the Stranger Things 2 Super Bowl spot

Season one of the Duffer Brothers-created Netflix series Stranger Things was one of my favorite pieces of entertainment to be released in 2016, something that I will be returning to countless times in the future. The release of the show's second season is one of my most highly anticipated events in 2017, so while there were a slew of new trailers shown during the commercial breaks of last night's Super Bowl, the most important one for me was the promo that aired for Stranger Things 2.

Starting off with a vintage commercial fake-out featuring the catch phrase for Eggos, a favorite food for one of the show's characters, the promo goes on to give a very moody glimpse at what the next season of Stranger Things has in store for us, and it appears that the threats that are going to be faced by the characters this time around are going to be even bigger. Much bigger.

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Sean Astin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Brett Gelman, Paul Reiser, and Linnea Berthelsen star in Stranger Things season two, which has the following synopsis:

A year after Will’s return, everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.

This promo also reveals that the new season will be hitting Netflix on Halloween – a slightly longer than expected wait, given the fact that season one made its debut in July. Still, Halloween is an appopriate date, especially since season two is set around Halloween 1984.
