The full title of the animated masterpiece will be THE HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO. Zombie had this to say about where the film stands with being released:
“They’re working on the music and sound effects now. I watched it the other day for the first time, and it’s awesome. It’s so insane; even I was watching it and thinking, ‘I cannot believe someone put millions of dollars into this.’ It’s a comedy, and Paul Giamatti is hilarious as Dr. Satan. It’s a beautiful-looking movie. All these animators from studios like Disney came to work on it—and they get to work on something filthy. It’s probably XXX-level now, but we’ll have to cut it back to an R. I don’t know what the release plan is, but it’s in their hands [The Weinstein Company] now,” Zombie says. “It’s weird, it went from Film Roman to IDT to the Starz! Network, and it has finally landed. I’m not sure when it’s supposed to come out; I would guess early next year.”
So no release date has been announced yet, but considering nearly everything is finished, it should be out relatively soon, especially with Zombie’s successful HALLOWEEN still raking in the dough. My guess is THE HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO won’t be too far behind the DVD release of HALLOWEEN.
The basic plot for EL SUPERBEASTO is: The film follows the adventures of the title character (voiced by Tom Papa), a washed-up Mexican luchador, and his sultry sidekick and sister Suzi-X as they confront Dr. Satan. The voice cast for the film is a loaded lineup too. The cast includes Sheri Moon Zombie, Paul Giamatti (as Dr. Satan), Danny Trejo, Rosario Dawson, Brian Posehn, and Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants himself!). Well folks, we’ll keep you updated with any info we hear on THE HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO. In the meantime you can visit the official site over here.
