According to CineMusic, Elfman is no longer attached to the project due to “scheduling conflicts.” But rumor has it, it’s really due to the conflicts from the film itself, which has been teased to hit theaters since October of 2008. Constant editing and changes to the final film means changes to the music score, and at this point… Elfman simply doesn’t have any time to go back and tweak things (off to Tim Burton’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND is the likely reason).
Paul Halsinger, who’s scored DEATH RACE 2000, UNDERWORLD, and CRANK (to name a few) is set to jump on the project and create a totally new and original score for THE WOLFMAN in January, just in time for THE WOLFMAN’s February 12th release date.
I don’t have anything against Halsinger, but what the f*ck is wrong with the producers of THE WOLFMAN to not use the score already created by Elfman? The guy creates pure musical gold with everything he touches. And they’re just gonna scrap everything he’s done? I hate to admit it, but I’m thinking THE WOLFMAN may end up being the biggest pile of crap of 2010.
