Eli Roth and Jim Carrey are making a horror movie together

Here's something I never thought I'd be saying: Jim Carrey and Eli Roth are making a movie together. An adaptation of the 2004 IDW comic ALEISTER ARCANE, the project has been picked up by DreamWorks with Mandeville Films' David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing along with Michael Aguilar. Jim Carrey will executive produce and star in the project, which Eli Roth is directing. The script will be written by Jon Croker (THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2: ANGEL OF DEATH).

Eli Roth has also been recently announced as the director of the DEATH WISH remake with Bruce Willis, so all of a sudden he's got a full plate on his hands. Jim Carrey is another huge celebrity he'll be working with as his star rises in Hollywood.

The story of ALEISTER ARCANE follows:

a Los Angeles weatherman named Aleister Green who returns to his hometown to host a midnight horror show a la Elvira. Under the guise of a mad scientist named Aleister Arcane, Green performed little skits until the local sponsors balked at the gore. An incident with two kids leads to him to be put on trial, breaking his spirit, and into an early grave. Not long after, grisly activities begin to occur and only the kids have the power to thwart the curse he has laid upon their town.

This isn't Jim Carrey's first foray into genre filmmaking. He's already starred in the comedic horror film THE CABLE GUY, and he's recently been announced to star in A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT director Ana Lily Amirpour's next film THE BAD BATCH.
