The boys at Dread Central pointed out that a little project seemed to be overlooked a while back, and as it has to do with the writer of THE RULES OF ATTRACTION and AMERICAN PSYCHO, I’m still in shock that we somehow missed it. Never-the-less, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed writer Bret Easton Ellis and Dave Kalstein are working on a new horror project for Showtime entitled THE CANYONS, revolving around the nightmare world that is L.A..
THE CANYONS is about a group of people in L.A. that are forced to deal with untimely deaths, relationship & career issues, and violent situations involving monsters that may or may not be real. Wait, wait, wait… relationship issues? Oh yeah… didn’t I mention it… the project is being sold as a horror-tinged soap opera. As it’s coming from the guy who brought us Patrick Bateman, I’m sure we won’t be disappointed – even if it is a soap opera!
Said to be in the same surreal world of David Lynch (without “midgets walking backwards”), the idea came from dark times that write spent in L.A. while trying to make it, in which he felt the world was coming to an end. In L.A.? Nooooooo….
