The story (which is pretty straightforward compared to some of Ellis’ wild “big idea” books like PLANETARY) revolves around a former CIA operative enjoying his retirement — until the new company director discovers his secrets and decides to make it permanent. The screenplay is being written by brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber, who adapted Greg Rucka’s comic WHITEOUT to screens (Kate Beckinsale stars).
Although the book was published by DC, parent company Warner Bros. isn’t behind the movie (which reportedly took two years of extricating). But producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is involved, and he knows something about bringing material (G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS) to theaters.
Ellis’ book GLOBAL FREQUENCY was previously adapted to television, but never got approved past the pilot (despite its popularity when leaked online).
