Emmerich shops 2012

If there’s one guy out there who can deliver when it comes to blowing up the world in a big way, it’s Roland Emmerich. From INDEPENDENCE DAY to THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW (and yes, even the shite in a can GODZILLA), the guy is bent on blowing U.S. landmarks up, and considering how entertaining that can be, there ain’t nothing wrong with that!

His latest script, 2012, has been unleashed on the studios for a bidding war to ensue. According to Variety, Studio toppers read the script Tuesday, and indications are that nearly all of them were interested enough to meet with Emmerich and reps Wednesday to hear his budget projection and creative aspirations.

After his pitch, it’ll be up to the studios to duke it out. 20th Century Fox greenlit and released his previous ‘blow shite up’ spectaculars, but Warner Bros. is releasing his latest epic, 10,000 B.C. later next month, so it’s really up in the air who will take the cake with this one.

The script has been tight-lipped thus far, but word on the street is that 2012 is the end of the world… and Emmerich is gonna show us how it ends. For more on this deal, click HERE, and get ready for Emmerich’s 10,000 B.C. in theaters March 7th.
