Entity remake finds a scribe

Remake. It’s the word I’ve written more than any other since I began working at our favorite horror news site. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon (hell I just wrote it about 30 minutes ago).

I’m just going to open a file called “remakes” on my computer and write some headlines to save time later. Like, “JAWS gets a remake”; “EXORCIST to be remade by Michael Bay”; “HOSTEL remake in the works.” C’mon, that movie is like 2 years old already, it’s dying for a new coat of paint.

Anyhow, THE ENTITY is getting a remake, via Fox Atomic, and it now has a writer: Amy Holden Jones. Jones has a most bizarre resume. She’s done the horror thing, having written SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE (which she also directed) and THE RELIC, but she’s also penned flicks like MYSTIC PIZZA, INDECENT PROPOSAL and BEETHOVEN (yeah, the one with the dog). Can’t say she writes the same stuff over and over.

THE ENTITY will be helmed by Hideo Nakata, a man who’s never directed a film I liked (that includes the overrated RINGU and the abysmal THE RING 2)

IMDB gives the original, which stars Barbara Hershey and Ron Silver, this plot synopsis: Supposedly based partially on a true story, a woman is tormented and sexually molested by an invisible demon. Kinky. I’m lucky if my imaginary friend molests me nowadays…
