Focus Features is moving into the animation game and for their first outing, they’ve enlisted director Shane Acker and his “epic” film 9. The film is an expansion of Acker’s short film of the same name and, of course, they’ve amassed an impressive voice cast that includes Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and John C. Reilly. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, the film’s being produced by Tim Burton and NIGHT WATCH director Timur Bekmambetov. Here’s a little synopsis of the plot:
The action-packed tale takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A community of fully mobile rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Wood), displaying leadership qualities that may help them to survive. The conflicted but resilient community includes 1 (Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Connelly), a brave warrior.
