Eraser: Reborn, starring Dominic Sherwood, earns an R rating

Back in September, we heard that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is bringing us a reboot of the 1996 Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick Eraser, with a film called Eraser: Reborn having been shot in secret over the summer. This new take on the Eraser concept stars Dominic Sherwood of Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels – and now it has a rating. Film Ratings.com reports that Eraser: Reborn has earned an R rating for “violence throughout and language”.

Clearly this movie is staying true to its predecessor, because the first Eraser was rated R for “violent action throughout and some language”.

Directed by John Pogue (Deep Blue Sea 3) from a screenplay by Michael D. Weiss (Hostel: Part III), Eraser: Reborn follows

US Marshall Mason Pollard (Sherwood) who specializes in engineering the fake deaths of witnesses that need to leave no trace of their existence.

Schwarzenegger’s character name in the first Eraser was John Kruger, so it doesn’t appear that Sherwood is meant to be playing the same person. Sherwood is joined in Eraser: Reborn the cast by Jacky Lai (V-Wars), McKinley Belcher III (The Good Lord Bird), and Eddie Ramos (Animal Kingdom).

Pogue and Weiss have plenty of experience in the realm of direct-to-video follow-ups to theatrical films. In addition to the credits listed above, Pogue also directed Quarantine 2: Terminal, while Weiss has written I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, The Butterfly Effect 2, The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power, and Jarhead 3: The Siege.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is planning to release Eraser: Reborn sometime in the spring of 2022.

Will you be watching Eraser: Reborn? Let us know by leaving a comment below. The first Eraser ranks among my least favorite Schwarzenegger movies, I just couldn’t get into that movie for some reason.
