Eric Heisserer takes the writer seat for Final Destination 5

When FINAL DESTINATION 5 was announced, a low but distinguishable grown was heard throughout the horror community. Sure, the first four films had their moments and we’ve had a lot of good times, but another one after the “final” FINAL DESTINATION? That’s just a wacky money-making move.

Not that I’m surprised, I just wish the makers of PART 4 weren’t stupid enough to claim that it was the final entry in the franchise as anyone can tell you “final” movies are never final. But alas, FD5 is getting made, and according to THR’s Heat Vision Blog, a writer has been hired to bang out the script.

Eric Heisserer, the dude behind the upcoming prequel to THE THING, has been hired to write the script for FD5. Yes folks, it’s up to Heisserer to come up with a wild and twisted premise that sets off the events of the rest of the movie, as well as to come up with all sorts of imaginative death sequences to keep us interested. The initial accident hasn’t been revealed yet, however a scene involving Lazer Eye Surgery has. Actually, that’s pretty much it. There will be a scene featuring Lazer Eye Surgery. Any scene where the eyes are a subject of torture always get me, so that scene should be pretty damn fun.

Apparently Heisserer is the go-to-guy for reinventing scripts and franchises in Hollywood, and New Line is hoping to pump some steam back in the FD franchise with this one. And with that task ahead of him, I say more power to him! If he can pull it off, I can’t wait to check it out!
