Eric Red: Intro

ARROW INTRO: If
you’re no stranger to the site then you must know that Eric
Red
(writer of Near Dark, The Hitcher, Blue Steel – director of
Body Parts , Cohen and Tate and
Bad Moon – creator of the Containment comic) was my main screenwriting hero when growing up. His “The
Hitcher”
screenplay was and still is in my opinion one the best
(if not the best) screenplays ever written. It’s freaking genius!

Over the years I was very lucky to get to know and also
work with Eric (as per his intro below for more details) and I am honored to
have him start a “monthly” column on my site. Yes, boozing him up on
“Jack Daniels” worked…he said yes! MUAAAAAAA! Eric will be reviewing more
obscure genre films for the site, in the
name of expanding our “film watching” scope (mine included). With time, who knows
where this column will go! Without further ado, I give you ERIC
RED
! You got the floor bud!

Arrow & Red

ERIC RED INTRO: Knowing
John Fallon has been a great pleasure. We
met about four years ago when he contacted me for an interview for the Arrow.
In the intervening years our friendship developed, and many cigars were
smoked arguing about film and working on one or two of our own.
Fallon has a singular horror sensibility, a rock ‘n roll heart and is
such a stand up guy he drove all the way from Montreal to be the best man at my
wedding.

A
few months ago, John asked me to do this column on the Arrow site, I was totally
honored and thrilled. Fallon told
me he would not edit or censor me in any way–he’ll live to regret that–and I
said yes.
