Ernie Hudson has now weighed in on the new Ghostbusters cast

It's common for celebrities to backtrack on things they have said, maybe they didn't understand the question or maybe their handler or agent was too busy playing Words with Friends. Whatever the case is, it's become the norm. When it comes to the new cast of GHOSTBUSTERS, it’s no secret that Bill Murray was all for it from the beginning (he suggested Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig for the film las year), and yesterday we shared with you what Dan Aykroyd thought about the new cast of GHOSBUSTERS (he's delighted). Today we get to hear from the other surviving member, Ernie Hudson and thus making sense of my introduction.

Following the news on Tuesday that the new GHOSBUSTERS would include Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, Hudson responded on Twitter with a cryptic "no comment." That tweet has since been deleted (Words with Friends got boring for his agent) and the actor who previously said an female cast "would be a bad idea," and now he’s saying the cast looks "phenomenal."

You may recall back in October when Hudson expressed his thoughts about an all-female GHOSTBUSTERS reboot:

I heard it was going to be a total reboot, and that it would have nothing to do with the other two movies. If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters? I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that’s great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that. Maybe it will come out and be the most amazing thing, but in my opinion I think it would be wrong to do another movie that didn’t include the guys. And that didn’t include me!

So perhaps he realized that in order to get a cameo or role in the film, he would have to lend his support to it. Or like a lot of people out there, he’s given up the fight. So now that we have all that cleared up, will Slimer be appearing? Will he be CG or practical effects? Will he be a woman now?

GHOSTBUSTERS hits theaters July 22, 2016.
