Everything decays in trailer for haunted house thriller Relic

I love a good haunted house thriller, particularly those where you're never entirely sure what's real, and the recently released trailer for RELIC puts a bit of a spin on the whole haunted house concept. Writer/director Natalie Erika James makes her feature-film directorial debut with RELIC, which finds Kay (Emily Mortimer) rushing to her family's decaying country home along with her daughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) when she receives word that her elderly mother Edna (Robyn Nevin) has vanished. Once there, they find clues of Edna's escalating dementia before she mysteriously reappears. While Kay and Sam initially assume that Edna's increasingly volatile behavior is a product of her dementia, they soon begin to expect that something much more sinister it taking place. Definitely some creepy shit going down here.

The official synopsis for RELIC:

When elderly mother Edna (Robyn Nevin) inexplicably vanishes, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) rush to their family’s decaying country home, finding clues of her increasing dementia scattered around the house in her absence. After Edna returns just as mysteriously as she disappeared, Kay’s concern that her mother seems unwilling or unable to say where she’s been clashes with Sam’s unabashed enthusiasm to have her grandma back. As Edna’s behavior turns increasingly volatile, both begin to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control of her. All three generations of women are brought together through trauma and a powerful sense of strength and loyalty to face the ultimate fear together.

RELIC is slated to hit select-theaters on Digital on July 10, 2020.
