Everything will change in these two new posters for Pixar’s Cars 3

At their best, Pixar has given us some of the most incredible animated movies ever to grace the screen, at their worst, well, they're still pretty good, but the CARS franchise is definitely leaning towards the bottom of the Pixar barrel. However, seeing as the franchise is the brainchild of Pixar chief John Lasseter and its merchandising brings in an obscene amount of money each year, we're about to get a third entry in the CARS series. CARS 3 will see the legendary Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers and pushed out of the sport he loves. In order to get back in the game, he seeks the assistance of eager young race technician Cruz Ramirez and, with a little inspiration from the late Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage. Following the recent release of the surprising dark teaser trailer for CARS 3 comes two new posters for the upcoming Pixar flick.

Although I wouldn't place it among my Pixar favourites, I enjoy CARS a little more than most, but when it comes to the sequel, well, let's just hope that the Pixar team has learned their lesson. It's still much too early to say whether CARS 3 will be an improvement, but John Lasseter had previously said that it will be a "very emotional story" which will be a "little bit more akin to Cars 1."

CARS 3 will roll into theaters on June 16, 2017.
