It was just yesterday that I told you about BASEMENT JACK. Well now the great people of Black Gate Entertainment have treated us to an official website. So far the website only has a few things, including the premise and a neat ‘Mental Institute review.’ It also has a link to a blog. The entry for week one is as follows:
“this is Jack Riley here. week one of killing is over and man does this cast and crew rock the house. too much stuff has happened to narrow it down to just one favorite moment. watching Tiffany Shepis’s guts fall out was a true pleasure. i also enjoyed the opportunity to finally use my absolutely wicked arm blade and wear my mask. from here on out the death count only goes up.”
Pretty badass. Brian O’Toole, who wrote the film, had this to say about the site: “We plan to have daily blogs from the cast and crew, as well as exclusive photos from the shoot. Eric and I really believe in making the fans a part of our films, because after all, what we do is for them.”
According to the site, the premise for BASEMENT JACK is: Eleven years ago Jack Riley killed fifteen people including his own mother before he was finally brought down by a polieman’s bullet. He was just seventeen at the time. For eleven years Jack Riley, or Basement Jack as christened by the media, lived quietly in a state asylum until now. Jack Riley has been released but his madness remains. Haunted by his past he kills again but this time there is someone waiting. Karen Cook has waited eleven long years to seek revenge for what was done to her family and end her pain. If she could just fin him before more victimes fall to his silvery blade. Man, I really can’t wait for this one. It has the slight feel of a HALLOWEEN wanna-be, but seems like it’s got enough originality to stand on it’s own.
BASEMENT JACK is filming now and is being directed by FX master Michael Shelton.
Along with the BASEMENT JACK update comes an update on EVILUTION, another Black Gate Entertainment project. This update involves a teaser trailer, which you can see at the official website. Seems interesting, the trailer doesn’t give us much but some fast paced clips. The premise reads as follows:
A microscopic alien life form has been discovered with the ability to possess the living and resurrect the dead. The United States Army has tried to communicate with it but failed. Instead, the military has tried to create a genetically altered version of the alien in order to resurrect dead soldiers on the battlefield. The alien fights back; turning soldier against soldier.
A young scientist named Darren Hall kidnaps the last pure specimen of the alien, determined to reverse the damage inflicted and learn the secrets of life. Hiding in a mysterious apartment building named The Necropolitan he continues his experiments. On one fateful night, the alien is set loose upon the unsuspecting tenants resulting in a new evolution in apocalyptic horror as infected tenants attack the unsuspecting, turning them into a cannibal horde. Darren and a small group of survivors must now find a way to destroy the alien possessed before they can escape into the city and bring forth the end of the human race.
Alright… so just another zombie movie? Beneath the surface, that’s what it looks like, but it has the potential to be more. We’ll keep an eye on this one. EVILUTION is going to be directed by Chris Conlee (ABOMINABLE, BOO) and is actually going to have Alan Howarth (HALLOWEEN, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) write the score. It will star Eric Peter-Kaiser, Tim Colceri, Sandra Ramirez (below), Noel G, Guillermo Diaz, James Duval, Nathan Bexton, Billy Morrison, and Jonathan Breck.
So far it doesn’t seem like a release date has been set for either film, but we’ll keep you updated!
