Ewan McGregor opens up about his The Force Awakens cameo

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

One of the details of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS that fans were able to pick out if they were paying close attention was the re-appearance of Ewan McGregor.

Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t recall ever seeing the younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, because he wasn’t there for you to catch with your eyes. But your ears may have picked him up inside Maz Kanata’s watering hole.

McGregor’s voice can be heard speaking to Rey during her lightsaber vision sequence, with Sir Alec Guinness also involved. Two Obi-Wans working together in perfect harmony.

Last night, McGregor was on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!, where he explained how the whole deal came together and how Guinness’ voice was used, even though he died back in 2000.
