The good folks at Tartan are at it again with another release for fans of Asian horror.
Directed by Takashi Shimizu (of JU-ON: THE GRUDGE fame),
MAREBITO is set to be released into theatres December 9th and Tartan was kind enough to send
us exclusive NEW STILLS from the film
(the ones in this story), which you can click on for larger versions.
The story revolves around a fear-obsessed freelance cameraman (Shinya Tsukamoto) who is investigating an urban legend involving mysterious spirits that haunt the subways of Tokyo. Shimizu shot this flick in just 8 days between productions for JU-ON and it’s American remake on a budget of 5 million yen (which weighs out to more than what I have), the film looks like it follows in the footsteps of THE GRUDGE (ie. poop-yer-pants scary).
No word on when Tartan will release this puppy onto DVD, where I’m betting it will be under Tartan’s Asia Extreme line.
