Let’s start off with the flick’s title character! RACHEL will be played by the gorgeous Julie Marie Berman (right) who’s recently been nominated for an Emmy for her long-standing work on GENERAL HOSPITAL. We’ve got another big name for the dude who will be playing the film’s “Abductor”: that would be wrestler, Kevin Nash (THE PUNISHER, below). Playing the no-nonsense “Detective Stroud” is film veteran Luce Rains (3:10 TO YUMA, APPALOOSA). RACHEL’s “Mother” is being played by DAWSON’S CREEK MILF momma Mary-Margaret Humes. The comic relief is provided by Mike Bocchetti of LAST COMIC STANDING. Plus, in final negotiations to join the cast as RACHEL’s best friend is tweener supercutie, Daniella Monet (below).
So, there’s your cast, but the cool news doesn’t stop there. Mr. Di Tommaso also gave me a heads-up as to who would be handling RACHEL’s Director of Photography duties. That job now rests in the sure hands of Don M. Morgan, who Victor is “very pleased” to have on account of the long line of genre classics he has under his belt: CHRISTINE, STARMAN, and SE7EN. Mr. Morgan was very eager to sign on to RACHEL because, like Mr. Di Tommaso, he felt very close to the underlying theme of the plot:
For Rachel Martin, life as a high school senior is no different than other. Day to day pressures of promiscuity and fitting in. One night while making out with Matt, her boyfriend of two years, she is given an unexpected ultimatum. When she refuses to give into his demands, she flees the scene and reaches out to a motorist for refuge. Unbeknownst to her he is a serial rapist. In her final moments of life Rachel makes a promise to return and seek revenge. Her soul is now lost between this world and the next as she seeks justice.
