relayed to you earlier just saw Jan De Bont attach himself to his
action/thriller screenplay STOPPING POWER, had this to say EXCLUSIVELY to
AITH about the project:
ERIC RED SAYS: “I am very excited about the
whole thing. “THE HITCHER” and “SPEED” are two very popular films in Germany, so
it is a great pairing in terms of Jan De Bont directing my script.
He’s the best
possible choice to helm the film. I also can’t say enough about Hermann Joha and
Action Concept, the amazing action services studio based in Cologne, Germany
that does world-class stunt sequences. They have been terrific to work with on
this project.
In the story, the hero Dan Power is an ordinary guy
in an extraordinary situation that could happen to anyone. He stops for gas and
an escaping bank robber switches cars with him, kidnapping his daughter as a
hostage and forcing Power to drive the getaway car as a decoy for the police
while the bad guy makes his escape.
The dilemma for the hero is staying ahead of
the cops and finding some way to catch up with and take down the heavy, which is
tough for him to do with the entire Berlin police force after him thinking he is
the bank robber. But besides the suspense, the story has a positive and
emotional human level about a father and daughter whose relationship is strained
but whose love and bond are strengthened and renewed by the ordeal. It’s an
audience movie, full of action, excitement and fun.”
