Exclusive Clip from animated Guillermo del Toro-produced The Book of Life

Guillermo del Toro is well-known for his unique style and now he's helping to bring those same sensibilities to the animated tale, THE BOOK OF LIFE, from writer/director Jorge R. Gutierrez, which follows the title character, Manolo, as he traverses life and death in some fantastical realms to reunite with the love of his life. The film stars the voice talents of Diego Luna, Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, and Danny Trejo, who make up what looks to be a diverse and fun cast. Today, we have an exclusive clip from the film, which finds Manolo (Luna) entering The Land of The Remembered for the first time.

Saddle up:

Here's the synopsis:

THE BOOK OF LIFE, a vibrant fantasy-adventure, tells the legend of Manolo, a conflicted hero and dreamer who sets off on an epic quest through magical, mythical and wondrous worlds in order to rescue his one true love and defend his village.

I love a good animated flick and this looks to be a really cool and original tale. Visually, this looks like a feast for the eyes, and coupled with a great voice cast, the odds are stacked in favor of this being a solid flick. I get a HERCULES mixed with NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS vibe when watching the trailers and that's a pretty good sales pitch to get me into theaters.

THE BOOK OF LIFE opens on October 17, 2014.
