Exclusive: Leigh Whannell interview and the Insidious 4D Experience!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

NOTE: This is a repost from April.

On June 5th, Focus Features will unveil INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3, the second sequel (technically, prequel) in the successful horror franchise. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Leigh Whannell, who in addition to penning the first two Insidious films has written three SAW movies, DEAD SILENCE and last year’s crime thriller THE MULE.

Last week, I had the opportunity to travel to Miami to talk about the film with Whannell, which you can see below. Why Miami, you may ask? That’s where the Insidious “Into the Further 4D Experience” currently is.

Into The Further is a fully-immersive experience that will take you physically and virtually into the world of INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3. Elise Ranier (Lin Shaye, pictured above) will be your guide on an intense 4D oculus rift experience that will bend your perception of what is ‘real’ and what is ‘the further.’ That’s right, you get to put on one of those crazy helmets and dive headlong into the creepy world of spirits and nightmares. It’s a slightly unnerving, surreal and utterly cool new take on the haunted house: You move your head around and see ghosts lurking in the corners of the room, outside the windows and, occasionally, right in front of your face! At one point, one of them even touches you, which gives you the heebie-jeebies in a big way.

Check out my interview with Whannell, which took place in one of the 4D experience’s sets. At the end of the video, you’ll notice me hamming it up for a jump-scare that occurs moments after your time with the oculus rift. Yep, they take your picture as you scream in surprise; a little memento from your visit to the Further.

If you want to see more of “Into the Further”, below you’ll find a video showing you exactly what the 4D Experience looks like inside and out, with some terrified (but satisfied) reactions from actual customers. Did I mention this thing is free? It’s free!

If you want to know when and where you too can go “Into the Further”, just check out the image below the video. You can head over to the Experience’s official site HERE to reserve tickets.
