So it’s pretty safe to say Sylvester Stallone still has what it takes. Endorsing steroids, old age, barely audible… whatever your problem with Stallone is, he laughed in your face when RAMBO scored big. And he’s still laughing because he’s currently developing a sequel to RAMBO as well as working on another action flick called THE EXPENDABLES, which we’ve been keeping you updated on.
So in a time when action flicks were being overshadowed by chick flicks and the like, Stallone kicked our teeth in and we loved it, so he’s going to keep going. THE EXPENDABLES follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. And the kicker? Along with Stallone it stars Jet Li, potentially Forest Whitaker, and new-age action hero Jason Statham! Now that’s an action movie cast! Holy sh*t!
Well today ComingSoon.net scored a look at some very early teaser work for THE EXPENDABLES via the American Film Market. And when I say very early, I’m talking bold text on a black background and that’s it. But it works! When you’ve got names like Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, and Jason Statham on a poster with a tagline reading “Deploying 2010,” you can’t help but take notice. Meanwhile in the land of Variety, we’ve got an update on some international distribution deals for EXPENDABLES. Looks like Lionsgate scored rights in the U.K., California Filmes for Brazil and Latin America, Odeon for Greece and to Dutch Filmworks for the Benelux region.
Needless to say we’ll be keeping a close eye on everything and anything EXPENDABLES, seeing how we all loved RAMBO here at AITH and we’re all stoked for this! So keep it here for any updates.
