The folks over at Film1.nl had the chance to attend the annual Cinema EXPO in Amsterdam yesterday, scoring first-looks at a bunch of new teaser posters, including a glimpse at two upcoming remakes: this October’s QUARANTINE, and this December’s THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.
First up is QUARANTINE, which you can gander at in its full-time glory by clicking HERE. Tag-line is more detailed, and the ‘terror shot’ of Jennifer Carpenter works pretty well–my only problem is that the tag-line makes it sound like THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT in an apartment building. I haven’t seen [REC] (the original film QUARANTINE is based on), so I couldn’t tell you for sure that it’s not like BLAIR WITCH, so who knows… maybe it is. Anyway, other than that the teaser works for the most part, so bravo to the marketing team for this one.
Next up is the teaser for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, which you can check out HERE. This remake of the 1951 Sci-Fi classic stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connolly, and is lookin’ effin’ cool based on this one (and first) teaser poster. The image of the space ship landing in Central Park and the people going to see what it is… hell, I’m intrigued! Works as a teaser should!
Two remakes, two teaser posters, one day… hard to believe we could handle it all. While you’re over there, you can check out the other posters that the EXPO revealed–some we’ve seen, some we haven’t, but cool none-the-less. QUARANTINE hits theaters October 17, and look for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL in theaters December 12.
