Extended editions of The Hobbit trilogy are heading to theaters this fall

Peter Jackson's bloated trilogy based upon J.R.R. Tolkien's wonderful novel "The Hobbit" will be heading back to theaters this fall; only this time, they'll be longer than ever! Far Away Entertainment (via TheOneRing.net) has announced that the extended editions of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, and THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES will be screened in theaters beginning on October 5, 2015.

Here's the event information:

Fathom Events and Warner Bros. are partnering to present the extended editions of all three Hobbit movies. Shown over three nights, the epic Peter Jackson trilogy will be the first time the extended editions have ever been released in theatres. The films follow hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who is convinced by the wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) to accompany thirteen dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), on a quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch).  Also included will be an exclusive introduction by director Peter Jackson. First night showing starts Monday, October 5th, 2015 at 7:30pm local.

Similar theatrical screenings of the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings trilogy popped up in the past, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before The Hobbit trilogy got in on that action as well. I'm not shy about investing time in lengthy films but sitting down to watch all three Hobbit films in one sitting isn't exactly my idea of a good time; thankfully it seems like this event will be spread over several days as AMC Theaters has the screening of THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES dated for October 13, 2015. As the extended edition of THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES won't arrive on Blu-ray/DVD until November 3, 2015, this will be the public's first chance to view the new edition.

Are you into seeing The Hobbit trilogy up on the big-screen once again or is the magic finally gone?
