Face Off – Jim Carrey vs. Mike Myers: Who’s the Better Canadian Comedian?

They’re two of the funniest Canadian comedians of all time — and in a country that gave us John Candy, Norm MacDonald, Seth Rogen, and Eugene Levy, that’s saying something! Jim Carrey and Mike Myers broke out big thanks to their classic sketch comedy shows (In Living Color and Saturday Night Live, respectively) before lunging onto the big screen, smashing box office records whether through talking out of their butts or having monkeys fly out of it!

It’s a pleasure to have Myers return to the realm of comedy (outside of a Super Bowl commercial) with the recent television series, The Pentaverate, streaming on Netflix. At the same time, it’s a bit disheartening to hear the news that Jim Carrey will essentially be retired following his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. While we hope that both stars aren’t quite finished making us laugh, we thought now would be a great time to look back at their storied careers.

From iconic comedy skits with fire marshals and guitar zeros to dramatic turns as paranoiacs and WWII generals, these two Canadians have solidified themselves as diverse and adaptive fan favorites, thanks to indelible characters like Austin Powers, Ace Ventura, Shrek, and The Mask. So grab your hockey sticks, pop open a Molson, and do something else stereotypically Canadian as we get ready for… FACE OFF!

This episode of Face Off is written by Mathew Plale, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by Lance Vlcek. But don’t let us have the final word — tell us in the comments which Canadian comedian is your favorite — Jim Carrey or Mike Myers?
