Earlier today Mr. Ammon let you know that JONAH HEX will be hitting theaters on AUGUST 6, 2010. Well now I’ve got another release date announcement for ya: The Dark Castle-produced thriller THE FACTORY, starring John Cusack, has just been slapped with an OCTOBER 22, 2010 date.
Nothing wrong with a good old Halloween-time opening for a potentially cool thriller, except for one thing: This flick finished shooting last Spring. Warner Bros. (which distributes all of Dark Castle’s films) will be sitting on this one for a while… Biding their time, or tinkering with a troubled film? Who knows. Being delayed ain’t what it used to be though; you’ll recall THE STRANGERS had a lot of trouble making its way to theaters, but when it finally did, it was a big hit. Warners can only hope the long wait for THE FACTORY generates similar results…
So what’s this thing about? Cusack plays an obsessed cop on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, N.Y. When his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any professional restraint to get the killer.
The flick was helmed by Morgan O’Neill (an Aussie actor-turned-director) and co-stars Mae Whitman, Dallas Roberts, and Sonya Walger (pictured below). Mark your calendars! (Have to assume SAW f*cking VII will come out then as well…)
