Fall sequel in the works now that film is an international success on Netflix

Director Scott Mann’s thriller Fall, which stars Grace Caroline Currey (Shazam!: Fury of the Gods) and Virginia Gardner (Halloween 2018) as a pair of characters who get stuck at the top of a 2000 foot tall radio tower, was given a theatrical release, but it wasn’t really a break-out hit. It made $21 million worldwide, on a budget of $3 million. More viewers watched it on Amazon, purchased it on Blu-ray or DVD (order it HERE), or caught it on Starz or Netflix… and now Deadline has revealed that Fall was so successful on Netflix, a sequel is now in the works! The movie landed in Netflix’s top 10 rankings in 4 different territories, and has been the second-most watched movie in the UK for the last two weeks.

Mann and the producers at Tea Shop Productions are currently brainstorming ideas for the Fall sequel, “which will look to unsettle audiences with another terrifying tale set at a great height.

Producer James Harris had this to say: “We were pleasantly surprised by how everybody has such a visceral reaction to (Fall). It is one of those movies where word of mouth really helps.

Producer Mark Lane added: “It’s an easy thing for people to pick up on a streamer. You can see the concept in the poster image and we’re finding that if people try it, they are getting hooked instantly.

As for the sequel, Harris said, “We’ve got a couple of ideas we’re kicking around … We don’t want to make something that feels like a copycat or less than the first one.

It’s not certain if Currey will be involved with the Fall sequel, but bringing her character back is one of the options on the table. Harris and Lane are hoping to “get moving” on the film later this year.

Scripted by Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, Fall had the following synopsis: For best friends Becky and Hunter, life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits. But after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down. Now Becky and Hunter’s expert climbing skills will be put to the ultimate test as they desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights.

Currey and Gardner were joined in the cast by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead) and Mason Gooding (Scream 2022).

Harris and Lane previously produced 47 Meters Down – which trapped two women at the bottom of shark-infested waters, and got a sequel about a different group of divers dealing with a shark problem.
