Fangland is Swanky

Hilary Swank is closely following the footsteps of Nicolas Cage in the area of peaking early in their careers with an Academy Award, and then doing nothing but crap from that point forward, but still seen as respectable because of that statue they have on their mantle.

Case in point is Swank’s next starring vehicle FANGLAND for Das Films and Blumhouse Productions. The flick is based on the book of the same name by John Marks, and it goes a little something like this: a TV producer travels to Romania for an interview with a notorious European arms dealer, but it turns out he’s a modern-day Dracula.

Wow. Some careers go sky high, and others do movies like this. Not that I’m completely bashing this project from head to toe, but seriously… what the hell? How does this even get greenlit? I guess I shouldn’t be complaining, because hey – it could be a remake, right?

Maybe it’s just the title I’m not a fan of. FANGLAND. It just sounds so… stupid. Sorry, I wish I could be more precise than that, but it just sounds stupid.

FANGLAND was adapted for the big screen by Mark Wheaton (pre-strike), who was also the dude who gave us THE MESSENGERS. And now my expectations and overall outlook of this film just dropped yet again. No word on when production is set to begin, but we’ll be the first one to tell you when we find out! That is, if you care…
