Fangoria checked in today with the first set visit for the second season of MASTERS OF HORROR, which just wrapped filming the first episode in Vancouver.
The episode in question, ‘Family’, was directed by John Landis and written by FRAILTY scribe Brent Hanley, and stars George Wendt from KING OF THE ANTS fame. Wendt plays a seemingly normal suburban man who works from home, but has some rather serious issues and has one too many voices in his noggin.
Landis, who was one of seven directors from the first season who’ve returned to contribute to the second, says that the most fun for him was casting George. “I asked all my friends, ‘Who’s the least threatening guy you know?’ At least six said, ‘Norm from ‘Cheers’.’ So I called George, and asked, ‘Would you be interested in doing this?’ And I sent him the script. I’m delighted he’s doing it. I don’t think people are prepared for how scary he can be.”
Next up for filming is Dario Argento’s PELTS, which was written by Matt (WHITE NOISE 2) Venne, and features rocker-turned-actor Meat Loaf. After that, Landis says that Tobe Hooper’s episode is number three, who in turn will be followed by John Carpenter, newcomer Ernest Dickerson (TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT), Joe Dante and Stuart Gordon.
Series creator Mick Garris will also contributte, as will newcomers Brad (SESSION 9) Anderson and Tom (CHILD’S PLAY) Holland. There are still 3 slots still open for the season, so keep your eyes peeled. Click here for the rest of Fango’s report.
