Fantomas, Christophe Gans’ new horror flick starring Vincent Cassel & Jean Reno!

Upon doing a little research for our next Horror Ten Spot, I discovered Christophe Gans has a new action-horror flick in pre-production called FANTOMAS. The fact it’s set to star Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel (seen above) – two of France’s finest actors – instantly makes this bastard one to keep a close eye on. Wanna hear more?

Adapted from Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre’s long standing French crime character by Gans and David Martinez – FANTOMAS is based on the comic serial about an amoral master of disguise and sadistic killer.

The character of FANTOMAS has been around since 1911, and has appeared in some 32 volumes of fiction written by Allain and Souvestre. The character has also endured film, TV and comic book adaptations. Here’s a Wiki description of the dude:

He is totally ruthless, gives no mercy, and is loyal to none, not even his own children. He is a master of disguise, always appearing under an assumed identity, often that of a person whom he has murdered. Fantômas makes use of bizarre and improbable techniques in his crimes, such as plague-infested rats, giant snakes, and rooms that fill with sand. He’s also shown as a sociopath who enjoys killing in a sadistic fashion.

Sounds fun, right? And with Cassel playing FANTOMAS, it might rival some of the awesome collaborations he’s done with Gaspar Noe. French horror all f*ckin’ day!

Cassel’s stunning wifey, Monica Belluci!
