Sony Pictures took this year off from animation after releasing OPEN SEASON and SURF’S UP in 2006 and 2007 respectively. But that doesn’t mean that they’re giving up on animation altogether. Sony is moving ahead with their 2010 release CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, a 3-D adaptation of the bestselling children’s book and has set the voice cast. Anna Faris, Bill Hader, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell (!!), Mr. T (!!!!!) and Tracy Morgan have all joined the cast of the film. Hader will star as Flint Lockwood, an inventor looking to stop the rain of food as it gets more and more dangerous. Faris will star as a weathergirl who helps the inventor along the way. Still no idea who Mr. T would but whatever it is, it will be funny. Chris Miller (SHREK THE THIRD) is directing for Sony-based Imageworks, which will release MEATBALLS as their first 3-D animated film (DreamWorks and Pixar will both be releasing 3-D films in 2009).
