Fast & Loose: David Leitch and Will Smith teaming for amnesiac thriller

Watch out, Hollywood, because Atomic Blonde and Hobbs & Shaw helmer David Leitch and Will Smith are about to team up. News has hit the bullpen today that the duo is collaborating on a new thriller titled Fast & Loose. Since word of the project broke, a heated bidding war is underway and the buzzards are circling in. Written by Jon and Eric Hoeber (Meg), Fast & Loose was originally developed by STXfilms, with Leitch taking the role of producer. Now that he's set to direct the thriller and Smith is ready to lead the film, several high-profile studios want to get in on the action, including Warner Bros, Paramount, MGM, Sony, as well as major streaming platforms.

Here's what Fast & Loose is all about:

After the leader of an upper-echelon criminal organization suffers memory loss from an attack, he reunites with his crew, only to find that things aren’t what he thinks they are. When John Riley (Smith) wakes up in Tijuana after being left for dead with absolutely no memory, he follows a string of clues to uncover his identity discovering he’s been living two different lives: one, as a super-successful crime kingpin, surrounded by beautiful women, expensive toys, and a lavish lifestyle and the other as an undercover CIA agent, but with a puny salary, no family or home life whatsoever, and zero trappings of success. The problem is, he can’t remember which of these two personas is his true identity, and, more importantly, which life he really wants to live.

Leitch and Kelly McCormick will produce through 87North, and Smith, his co-president and head of motion pictures Jon Mone and James Lassiter are producing with Westbrook Studios.

I hope those looking to court Fast & Loose are ready to slacken their purse strings and shell out the big bucks because this one is bound to sell big. Meanwhile, Leitch is in the midst of filming his next movie, Bullet Train, starring Bradd Pitt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Joey King, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Zazie Beetz, Lady Gaga, Hiroyuki Sanada, Andrew Koji, Brian Tyree Henry, Masi Oka, and more! In the film, five assassins aboard a fast-moving bullet train find out their missions have something in common. Those are some close quarters for five assassins to be running around. I have a feeling things are about to get bloody and I am here for it! All aboard!
