Fast X: Vin Diesel wants Robert Downey Jr. to play the villain who is the antithesis of Dom in the final part

We are close to the premiere of the trailer for the last installment of the car franchise that drove further than the gas gauge ever indicated. The first part of the two-part finale for the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast X, will unveil its trailer today before also showcasing a big game spot on this Sunday’s Super Bowl telecast. Variety reports that franchise star and producer, Vin Diesel, wants Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. to round out the all-star cast of the follow up to Fast X, which is set to be the final instalment of the series.

Diesel teases, “Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom. There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.” When talking about AI and revolutionary technology, it’s hard not to think — Tony Stark.

Series co-star Michelle Rodriguez was also asked who she’d like to see make their way into the franchise. Rodriguez answered, “I f*cking want Matt Damon. Matt Damon, would you be in a ‘Fast and Furious’ movie? C’mon, we got four Oscar winners, man. And you’re an Oscar winner!”

This upcoming installment sees the return of Charlize Theron as the hacker villain, Cipher, as well as the added baddie, Dante, who will be played by Jason Momoa. Brie Larson is also being introduced to the franchise with a character known as Tess. The series looks to also be welcoming back Jason Statham after he branched off to do the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, which stars a notable missing past cast member in the form of Dwayne Johnson. Johnson famously had tension with Diesel on the eighth film, The Fate of the Furious, as Johnson had also stepped into the producing role and clashed with his fellow bald peer, who had producing the movies for some time.

Fast X also welcomes back the family along with new additions as it co-stars Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Brie Larson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson and Cardi B.
