Fear free combat

Want in on F.E.A.R. multiplayer action, but can’t afford the game? Well first off, shame on you for not buying the game. Secondly, you can enjoy the multiplayer portion for free, thanks to Sierra, who today announced that the portion of the game, dubbed F.E.A.R. COMBAT, will be available for download August 17.

Granted, gamers will have to register for a keycode from the game’s official site here, but still, it’s frickin’ free! Okay, now for the specifics: Those who download the game will be able to participate in multiplayer frag sessions against other F.E.A.R. Combat owners, as well as those who own the full retail version of the game. Combat will include all the latest updates, 10 game modes, 19 maps, 12 weapons, anticheating-software support, and the ability to download user-created content.

A Sierra rep stated that this download was a way to give gamers who might not have played F.E.A.R. a chance to see why it was so well-received. Obviously, when a game is voted one of the best PC games of 2005, you kind of have to investigate, don’t you? For those wondering, F.E.A.R.’s expansion pack, EXTRACTION POINT, is due out later this year.
