FIFA 23 welcomes Ted Lasso and his AFC Richmond team to the next installment of the popular soccer game

Grab some biscuits, crank up the Cam Cole, and get ready to BELIEVE because Ted Lasso and his AFC Richmond team are coming to FIFA 23! This inspired (and inevitable) crossover is brought to you by Electronic Arts and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. They announced the news on Wednesday alongside a trailer previewing Ted and the lads of AFC Richmond on the big green.

Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) can be hired as a manager in Career Mode for AFC Richmond or any team you fancy. You can also create your own player to join Sam Obisanya, Dani Rojas, and other key players of the fictional soccer team. You can even play games at Nelson Road, AFC Richmond’s fictional home stadium. The Nelson Road stadium and Greyhounds’ roster will be selectable in two modes: Kickoff Online Friendlies and Online Seasons.

“It is so fucking cool to be in FIFA,” said Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, AFC’s elder statesmen and trouble maker with a heart of gold. “I’m not sure this is going to help dispel the CGI rumours but, fuck it, totally worth it,” Goldstein added, referring to the ongoing rumor that he’s a Hollywood FX illusion. “I look forward to beating my nephew in a game with me as Roy Kent and him as Jamie Tartt,” Goldstein said. “He’s gonna be furious.”

EA Sports plans on releasing additional Ted Lasso content by including AFC Richmond in the Football Ultimate Team and Pro Clubs modes, with Ted Lasso and Coach Beard as selectable coaches. Sudeikis is stoked about the collaboration, saying he’s been a FIFA fan for years, and it’s an honor to join the FIFA 23 roster.

FIFA 23 kicks off on September 27, 2022, on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia. Available features will vary from one platform to another. Make sure you do some research before purchasing.
