Filmax and Vaca Films holding hostages in Kidnapped

Vaca Films is keeping pretty busy. It’s only been a day since I gave you an update on their organ-thieving thriller NOWHERE, but there’s already more news coming from their camp: The company just sold international rights to KIDNAPPED, a suspense flick currently in production. More intriguing, it was Filmax (the [REC] series) that snatched up the rights; that company knows scary, so this is one to keep an eye on.

KIDNAPPED, which is being directed by Miguel Angel Vivas, tells the story of a family who move into a new house only to then be held hostage by a group of hooded men.

If that doesn’t exactly get your hair standing on end, heed the words from Vaca producers Borja Pena and Emma Lustres: “The theme of this film is terror; total fear and the violence which causes it. While shooting we’re aiming for a realistic and direct tone that would transport the viewer and make them feel the same panic and distress as our protagonists. This is a topic which is both real and happening in today’s society. Our aim is to transport the spectator to that place, to turn the cinema into the scene of the kidnapping. We want the viewer to feel that fear and that anguish.”

The frightfest stars Fernando Cayo, Ana Wagener and Manuela Vellés (pictured below); Filmax will present the project to buyers at the Madrid De Cine screenings event, which runs June 20-22.
