Filming has wrapped on Stake Land sequel The Stakelander

The apocalyptic vampire film STAKE LAND has acquired quite a large cult following since being released in 2010, so there are a whole lot of fans out there who will probably be very happy to hear that a sequel is on the way. And this isn't a case where we hear the sequel is going to happen eventually. This sequel, entitled THE STAKELANDER, was put together in secret and the announcement comes after filming has already been completed.

THE STAKELANDER was shot in Saskatchewan and wrapped last week.

Nick Damici, who co-wrote STAKE LAND with director Jim Mickle, also provided the screenplay for the follow-up and reprises the role of Mister alongside his STAKE LAND co-star Connor Paolo, back as Martin.

Directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, THE STAKELANDER has the following synopsis:

When his home of New Eden is destroyed by a revitalized Brotherhood and its new Vamp leader, Martin finds himself alone in the badlands of America with only the distant memory of his mentor and legendary vampire hunter, Mister, to guide him. Roaming the wilderness of a steadily decaying country, Martin goes in search of the one man who can help him get revenge. Once reunited, Mister and Martin prepare to battle a now-ravenous Brotherhood and its monstrous overlord. But it'll take more than the two of them to take down this terrifying new threat, and with more than just their lives now at risk, the stakes are higher than ever before.

The sequel was produced by Peter Phok and Larry Fessenden of Glass Eye Pix and Greg Newman of Dark Sky Films. Mark Montague of Berkserker Entertainment served as a co-producer, with Chadd Harbold on board as associate producer.

The Syfy Channel also co-produced the project, and will be hosting the premiere of the film as a Syfy Original. The air date has not yet been announced, but we will let you know when that information becomes available.
