Fincher’s next is Torso?

David Fincher just looooves them serial killers. First he gave us SE7EN – the greatest serial killer movie of all time – then he brought us ZODIAC. Now he’s getting ready to show us TORSO, another real-life horror story, this one taking place in 1930s Cleveland.

According to THIS article in The Plain Dealer, Paramount Studios is now putting together the movie’s budget, and looking for tax incentives from the state of Ohio.

The story follows real-life federal agent Eliot Ness (Matt Damon) — made famous by “The Untouchables” — after he closes the Al Capone case in Chicago and moves to Cleveland. There he makes a promise to help clean up the town until the city is scarred by a series of gruesome killings known as the “torso” murders.

There’s just a few snags in the way. Ohio doesn’t offer tax incentives to film companies, putting the production in danger (the producers want to shoot in Cleveland for the sake of realism, but might be willing to move elsewhere)…

And more importantly, as I reported yesterday, Paramount and Fincher aren’t exactly on friendly terms… It should be noted that nowhere in the article is Fincher’s name mentioned, so perhaps he’s quietly moved off the project? We’ll keep you in the loop if we find out more!
