First clip from Guardians of the Galaxy featuring Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord

The first clip from Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY has arrived, featuring an extended version of what we've seen in the first trailer, which has Chris Pratt's Star-Lord attempting to steal an orb of some kind and getting captured by Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) and his thugs. It's got a nice bit of Pratt utilizing his comedic skills, but quickly amps into action mode, giving us a bit more footage than we've seen of the protagonist, before jumping into trailer mode. It's a short, but sweet clip, nothing that will rattle your cage too much, but serves as a nice little appetizer for your next Marvel meal.

"Who??":

Here's the synopsis:

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” finds space adventurer Peter Quill the object of a bounty hunt after stealing an orb coveted by a treacherous villain, but when Quill discovers the power it holds, he must find a way to rally the quartet of ragtag rivals hot on his trail to save the universe.

After a record-breaking weekend for the third entry in Marvel's Phase 2, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, all eyes will start to shift to the next link in the chain, which is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Perhaps the least-known of all the Marvel characters thus far, Guardians has its work cut out for them in terms of not having as big of a fanbase as the other characters, but judging from reactions to the trailer the buzz seems very strong. With a great cast that includes Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, and Glenn Close all under the helm of director James Gunn, this has more than just the Marvel name going for it.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY hits theaters on August 1, 2014.
