First How to Train Your Dragon 3 poster teases a colorful, lavish adventure

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Dreamworks Animation may not always hit it out of the park like Pixar, but they certainly have a beloved, acclaimed series on their hands with HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON. The third entry has been a long a time coming, and now we’re inching ever so much closer to seeing HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD soar into the big screen. What can we expect from the new movie? Action, excitement, colorful world and, as it turns out, a white version of Toothless.

The first poster for the movie teases a rich, lavish new adventure for Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and his dragon Toothless to go on, during which the dragon unexpectedly meets a new mate. Cue the song “Close to You” by The Carpenters, if you please.

Here is the official plot synopsis

What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives.  In this next chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies: the village chief as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind.  As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.

The poster comes before the movie’s first teaser trailer next week, and though we don’t expect to see much, we will at least see a few important snippets. The movie’s release date was recently pushed back to March 1, 2019 after it, expectedly, would not make its May 2018 release.
