First image and synopsis revealed for Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry

Before Colin Trevorrow gears up to shoot STAR WARS: EPISODE IX, the man decided to head back to his roots and tackle a much small picture. That picture is THE BOOK OF HENRY. The story has been under wraps for a while now, but Empire Online released the first image from the film, as well as a synopsis, which finds two young boys (Jaeden Lieberher and ROOM's Jacob Tremblay) collaborating on a scheme to rescue their neighbor (Maddie Ziegler) from abuse at the hands of her police commissioner dad. Check out the image below!

Colin Trevorrow on THE BOOK OF HENRY:

I wanted to do something that scared the hell out of me. An acoustic movie with intense emotion. The challenge was to give an audience the same tension and thrills they get from a blockbuster, but rely solely on story and character to do it.

I really loved SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, so I'm happy to see Trevorrow return to a film that's more character driven. JURASSIC WORLD didn't exactly win me over, but I have faith in the man's abilities and I'm hoping that he'll get big-budget "right" when it comes to STAR WARS: EPISODE IX. After all, director Richard Marquand didn't exactly do anything special on his end with RETURN OF THE JEDI.

THE BOOK OF HENRY will hit theaters on September 30, 2016.
