The last we told you about Tarsem Singh’s upcoming Gods at war flick the title had been changed from WAR OF THE GODS to IMMORTALS. Good move considering that WAR OF THE GODS shite was just a little too similar to CLASH OF THE TITANS. Well that news came back at the beginning of April. So what’s been going on with IMMORTALS since?
It seems Singh and company have been hard at work because we’ve got the first batch of stills to oogle at today! Alright so maybe you’ll just be oogling at Freida Pinto, but there’s also some topless dude action as well. And how can we forget Mickey Rourke? A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a grail of discovery that has him finding he is the king’s son and also fated to become his country’s greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power.
Now these brand new stills aren’t the only IMMORTALS news we have for you. Oh no, no. We’ve also got an update coming in from The Hollywood Reporter that Universal Pictures International has struck a deal with Relativity Media at this year’s Cannes for the 3D film in U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. Nothing too exciting but we’ll run with it!
IMMORTALS is currently filming in Montreal with a release date pegged for November 11, 2011 (11-11-11? Hmm). Along with Pinto and Rourke the film also stars Stephen Dorff, John Hurt, Isabel Lucas (below), Kellan Lutz, Henry Cavill, Robert Maillet, Corey Sevier, Alan Van Sprang, Mercedes Leggett, Steve Byers, Romano Ozari and Neil Napier.
