First John Wick: Chapter 3 photo casts a neon glare on the boogieman

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Cameras have started rolling, again, for one of cinema's newest bonafide action heroes, John Wick (Keanu Reeves), on the set of JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3. Hours ago, cinematographer Dan Laustsen posted a photo from the second day of filming for the Chad Stahelski-directed sequel to his head shot-happy 2017 smash-hit, JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2. As you can tell by the photo posted below, the New York set of JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 is looking as stylish as ever, with the franchise's titular character poised and ready to sprint down a foggy, neon-lit city street.

Here's what you can expect when JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 arrives in theaters, next year:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

As I'd mentioned earlier, Chad Stahelski will direct, while Derek Kolstad will provide the script. Reeves is back, of course, and on the run from damn near every assassin associated with the Continental Hotel's vast network of killers.

“The whole purpose of John Wick: Chapter 2 was to get us into John Wick 3,” says Stahelski. “All the cool stuff we showed you in 1 and 2—we call it the service industries [for assassins]—we wanted to take that away. John Wick was about showing you and giving; John Wick 2 was about taking everything away from him.”

Do you think this will be the final chapter for the puppy-loving, somber AF, ultra-violent assassin? Would you like to see the series continue? Perhaps it can venture into Old Man Wick territory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 will arrive in theaters on May 17, 2019.
