News and images from AMC’s “The Walking Dead” are coming in fast and furious now, with this photo the latest to fall into our laps. No, not the photo to the right – that’s lead character Rick Grimes in comic form. Below, however, you’ll get your first look at Grimes in human form, as embodied by actor Andrew Lincoln. “Walking Dead” author Robert Kirkman had a few words to say about the man inhabiting his beloved main character: “Writing this book for the past seven years I’ve gotten very close to the character of Rick. Andrew Lincoln embodies every aspect of the character that fans know and love. After seeing this photo I don’t think that there will be a doubt in anyone’s mind that he’s perfect for the role.”
I know nothing of Lincoln’s work, so it will be pretty cool to see this veritable unknown take center stage in this much anticipated show. Well, center stage next to the hordes of undead, that is.
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.
“The Walking Dead” premieres on AMC this October.
