First look at Billy Dee Williams return as Lando in Star Wars Rebels

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While it may not be the live action return he himself lobbied for when STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS was announced, Billy Dee Williams will be making his return to a galaxy far, far away in an upcoming episode of STAR WARS REBELS. We also have the first look at the animated Lando and you can check it out below.

The above screenshot and below official image have been making the rounds on Twitter and you can clearly see the likeness of the Colt 45 spokesman fits right into the pre-EPISODE IV setting of STAR WARS REBELS.

Billy Dee Williams has always been willing to attend and participate in STAR WARS related appearances including a cameo in last year’s THE LEGO MOVIE. Some were disappointed when he was not announced as being included in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS, but J.J. Abrams‘ film is already busting at the seams with callbacks to the original trilogy. Hopefully, this appearance will appease fans. STAR WARS REBELS has been quite good so far even if it doesn’t quite match up to STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS. Still, the tease that the animated series will feature hints at what we may see in the upcoming live action film is more than enough incentive to watch.

STAR WARS REBELS airs Monday nights on Disney XD. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
