First look at Peggy Carter in the season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In a cool treat for Marvel fans, the second season premiere of ABC’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. will feature a cameo by Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. While that seems an obvious move to try and boost the mid-season premiere of her 1940s set series AGENT CARTER, we will also get to see the return of a pair of familiar faces to the Marvel Universe.

Actors Neal McDonough and Kenneth Choi will reprise their roles from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER as Dum Dum Dugan and Jim Morita. Dugan and Morita were members of Steve Rogers’ squad, The Howling Commandos, the same group that also counted Bucky Barnes as a member. TV Guide premiered the first image of the actors in character from the flashback sequence during the premiere episode. Titled “Shadows”, here is a brief synopsis.

Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources–but that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?

There is no word if McDonough, Choi, or any of the other Howling Commandos will appear on AGENT CARTER, but it will definitely be cool to see them in action again, even if for a brief scene. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. has a ways to go to redeem the viewers it lost during the first season. Those who stuck around for the second half were treated to a solid run of stories associated with the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, so here is hoping the next round will capitalize on that, leading up to AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. will premiere on ABC on September 23rd.
